In plain English

AIMS and ISO 42001 explained.

What is an AIMS?

An AI management system (AIMS) is how your business manages AI: who is responsible, what rules apply, how risks are checked and how problems are handled.

What is ISO/IEC 42001?

ISO/IEC 42001:2023 is the international standard for AI management systems. It provides a framework for managing AI responsibly and improving how it is used.

Is an independent audit the same as certification?

No. Our audits identify findings and improvements against an agreed scope, which can include ISO/IEC 42001 requirements. Certification is a separate assessment by a certification body. Aptimate does not issue ISO certificates.

Can you guide us and audit the same work?

We agree how to keep the audit independent before starting. Auditors do not audit their own work; where we have helped design your system, we agree a separate, impartial audit arrangement.
